Item-Scoring Extension for Destiny Item Manager

About

This is a browser extension designed to work with the Compare Items UI in Destiny Item Manager. Its purpose is to make it easier to figure out which weapon is "best" according to a formula applied to each weapon's stats. Learn more.

Installation

Download and install this browser extension from the Chrome Web Store.

If Destiny Item Manager was open before you installed the extension, close and reopen (or reload) DIM.

Usage

  1. Install this extension
  2. Open and sign into Destiny Item Manager.
  3. View your Inventory.
  4. Use the "Compare Items" UI to compare two or more weapons.
  5. A new and sortable row of numbers will automatically appear between the weapon names and Power stat. See the sceenshot above.
  6. Each number is the weapon's "score", and updates automatically as you add and remove weapons from the Compare Items UI.
  7. Learn more about how the extension works, including some tips and tricks.

A demo of these features can be seen on YouTube.

Future

I've pretty much satisfied my immediate need for more information in DIM, but I'm also open to finding out where you'd like this to go.

Add this to DIM?

That would be wonderful! Again, I've scratched my itch and have other projects I'd like to make progress on, but if you would like to take the initiative to work with the DIM team to add this functionality, more power to you (and I would be grateful if you could make this extension obsolete)!

Calculate scores for armor, not just weapons?

Yes, that seems easy, especially compared to learning DIM's source code. (I'm not a web developer.)

Make the formulas customizable by the user?

I can certainly see the appeal of letting the user define the formulas. If someone else had witten this extension this is probably the first feature I'd request of it.

Again, I'm not a web developer and pretty UI is not my forte, so if you'd like to help, let me know if you'd like to contribute code. Better yet, add the feature to DIM itself.

Support sorting items by their score?

Sure, that would be nice. I wonder which will happen first:
