about Hey, Washington! Software is welcome.
If you encountered a problem with the software,
please let me know
.
An effective bug report will contain enough information to help me find and fix the problem that you encountered.
Including as much of the following information as you can is helpful, the more the better:
- Title (the e-mail subject line)
- A summary of what went wrong.
- Repro Steps
-
How to encounter the problem.
Pretend that you're writing a recipe; describe how you used the software step by step to reveal the problem.
- Actual Behavior
-
Describe what went wrong as a result of following your recipe.
- Expected Behavior
-
Describe what should have happened a result of following your recipe.
- Severity
- How bad the problem is, when it happens.
- Priority
- How unavoidable the problem is.
- Reproducibility
- How reliably the repro steps reveal the problem.
The following is a hypothetical example of an exceptionally detailed bug report. The most important parts are near the top -- give only as much detail as you are able to and comfortable with.
- Title
- The Job Filter Extension for LinkedIn doesn't remember new filters
- Repro Steps
-
- Install the extension in Google Chrome
- Open the extension's side panel.
- (There are no filters defined.)
- Create an Undesirable Employer Filter for "A fictitious company name" without the quotation marks.
- Close the browser.
- Open the browser again.
- Open the extension's side panel.
- In the side panel, look at the Undesirable Employer Filters for "A fictitious company name".
- Actual Behavior
-
There is no filter containing "A fictitious company name" under Undesirable Employers or any other category of filters.
- Expected Behavior
-
The browser should remember the Undesirable Employer Filter that I created.
- Reproducibility
-
100% (3 of 3 attempts in Google Chrome version 135.0.7049.42 and Microsoft Edge version 134.0.3124.93). The same thing happened on two different computers -- one Windows 10 and one Windows 11.
- Severity
-
High - data loss (doesn't keep new data; existing data is not affected)
- Priority
-
High - If the browser won't remember any filters after I close the browser, that means I have to add them from scratch every time I open the browser.
